Speaker:
Heng Wang (王恒) worked a researcher on the Sino-Muslim heritage literacy project, and is co-author of the published article ‘Everyday Heritaging’ (see https://doi.org/10.1515/ijsl-2022-0058), and also co-author of the forthcoming book with Bloomsbury ‘Heritage Literacy in the Lives of Chinese Muslims’.
She is also a teacher of Chinese language and classical Chinese dance, and works at Queen’s Language Centre, the Chinese Community School in Belfast (Northern Ireland), and in her spare time studies Chinese-Islamic calligraphy and Islamic Theology.
Outline:
This talk will present an introduction on how Islam has developed in China since 7th century, and how it has intertwined with local culture and religions.
