Speaker:

Xuan LI (李轩) is a researcher in linguistics at School of Arts, English and Languages and he just passed his PhD viva early this May. His research interests encompass pragmatics, second language acquisition, and psycholinguistics. His PhD project investigates the Chinese adult English learners’ comprehension of sarcasm in English tweets under the relevance-theoretical framework. In addition, he is exploring the Chinese concept of 阴阳怪气 (Yīn-Yáng guài qì, reptilian) within Chinese social media platforms.
