About ArtEast NI
ArtEast NI, founded in 2015, is a group of artists primarily in Belfast, who are enthusiastic about Chinese paintings. Over the years they have become more inclusive to accept memberships from outside Northern Ireland as well.

Jean Jing has a passion towards arts. After her retirement, she spends most of her spare time painting and sketching, involving in activities in different art societies both in the UK and China. She travelled a lot in 2023 after the epidemic and did life sketching wherever she went. She likes pen and washes though ink painting is her favourite. Here are some of her works during her travelling and daily life in the year of 2023-2024.
Jieyu LI was very interested in art since her childhood. She particularly likes drawing traditional Chinese paintings, especially following the theme of flowers such as peonies and roses in recent years.
Lili LI was born and raised in an academic milieu where she immersed herself in the study of Chinese ink painting and calligraphy from an early age. Despite pursuing a career in the financial and business sectors and actively engaging in voluntary work, her true passion has always been the arts. During the pandemic period, she delved into the realm of oil painting, exploring both traditional techniques and modern methods to depict movement and the essence of life.
Educated both in science and traditional Chinese medicine, Meiling YANG is now working as an acupuncturist in a Chinese medical clinic. She has been interested in art since her childhood and learned the basics of art and Chinese painting. She loves art and practises Chinese painting in her leisure time.
Wenli ZHANG has worked in various professional roles in university/college and public sectors in NI. She loves traditional Chinese art, and applies both freehand ink wash and meticulous technique (gong bi) in her artworks. Her flowers and birds, landscape, and figure paintings represent a symbol of good luck and blessing of the traditional culture. She is an active member of the ArtEast club.
