With fantastic weather, outstanding performances, delicious food, and vibrant people, the Mid-Autumn Festival and Welcome Event at Queen’s on Thursday, 12th September 2024, was a resounding success!
In collaboration with iRise, Queen’s Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and International (BAME&I) Staff Network, and with support from the Student Experience Team, The Language Centre hosted this event to welcome new and returning students and staff. The celebration embraced the Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional Chinese holiday centered on family reunions and harvest, while showcasing the rich cultural diversity that makes Queen’s a proud and multicultural community.
Over 100 attendees, including students, staff, and members of the public, participated in the event. Together, they shared cultural, academic, and professional interests while enjoying delicious mooncakes and the spirit of cultural appreciation.

Thank you so much for creating such a vibrant festive atmosphere ahead of the new academic year. It was fantastic to meet all the peers and engage in discussions about Chinese culture. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much friends from other countries knew about Chinese festivals as well. I’m thrilled to have been part of the event and look forward to more in the future!
Thanks very much for your nice comments, Luyao, and glad that you have enjoyed it. Just keep an eye on our updates for more events in the future.
