In December 2018, the Modern Languages Core Disciplinary Research Group won the QUB Vice-Chancellor’s Research Culture Prize. Its allocated 5-year funding will allow us to support different research initiatives benefiting our wide research community.
One of our aims is to integrate our final year students into our Modern Languages research culture involving staff and PG students. For this reason, we are running a ‘Research Initiation’ scheme which offers small grants to final-year QUB Modern Languages undergraduates (in Irish, French, Spanish, and Portuguese) who will attend cultural/research events organised under the CDRG umbrella as well as interviewing current/past postgraduate research/Masters of Research students in Modern Languages about their research. Successful applicants to the scheme are required to prepare blog entries about each event attended/interview undertaken, which will be posted on this blog. Editorial support is provided by the subcommittee overseeing the scheme.
