The Spring Equinox and International Nowruz Day

On the day of Spring Equinox on Friday 20th March, many cultures across the Middle East and Central Asia are ready to celebrate the first day of spring (21st March) as their New Year – Nowruz (or its variations of spelling)!

On this special occasion, Zahra, a QUB alumnus from School of Biological Sciences, shared with us her new year greetings and thoughts.

Thank you, Zahra, happy Nowruz to you and to those who are celebrating at Queen’s!

Celebrating UN French Language Day

Bonjour! Did you know today, the 20th March, is the UN French Language Day? Joyeuse journée de la langue Française !

On this special day, we invited Noé Cherel, a French student studying archaeology at Queen’s, to share his thoughts.

“I grew up in the countryside in Burgundy, a peaceful and charming region. My childhood was shaped by nature, small villages, and local traditions. Living in the countryside taught me to appreciate simplicity and authenticity.”

Noé recently joined the Tandem Language Exchange programme and is looking for French-Chinese language partnership. Any Chineses-speaking students who are interested in learning French are more than welcome to join the TLE programme and partner with Noé.
