PsycInfo moves to Ovid

PsycInfo is now available on the Ovid platform of databases.  Anyone who has used Medline will be familiar with the Ovid interface, in particular the ‘Map term to Subject Heading’ feature.  This will map your term to the recognised Subject Heading used in PsycInfo. This means you don’t have to think of all the synonyms and alternative spellings of a word so it makes it easier to find relevant references, eg if you select the Subject Heading ‘cognitive behavior therapy’, this will also retrieve articles which contain the terms ‘cognitive behaviour therapy’ and ‘CBT’.

Ovid also provides many features which enable you to refine and limit your search, so you are less likely to retrieve irrelevant references.

Access to PsycInfo is via the same route as before, ie through QSearch and ‘Find database’.

If you would like any help using the new interface, please contact the Psychology Subject Librarian Carol Dunlop c.a.dunlop@qub.ac.uk .
