24-hour opening

During this semester 24 hour opening will run for seven weeks starting on Sunday 18th April.

We have taken onboard feedback from students around our opening hours during the exam period so we have made several improvements. The building will be open for longer hours and students will have now have access to the stock on all four floors until 1 o’clock in the morning including Fridays. Students wishing to study early on Saturday morning will be given access from 6.00am.

24-Hour Opening at the McClay Library, College Park  –  Sunday 18 April till Saturday 5 June 2010

Staffed Library Service and Access to Stock and Study Space:

Monday to Thursday 09.00am till 9.30pm
Friday 09.00am  – 8.00pm / Saturday 10.00am – 05.00pm / Sunday: 12.00pm  –  05.00pm

Access to Stock and Study Space:

Monday to Friday: 08.30am – 01.00am
Saturday: 10.00am – 01.00am / Sunday: 12.00pm – 01.00

Study Space (Ground floor):

Monday to Thursday: Available overnight
Friday : Closes at 1.00am / Saturday: Opens at 6.00am. Closes at 1.00am / Sunday: Opens at 12 midday. Available overnight

N.B. May Day  There will be no overnight opening on Sunday 2nd May. The Library will close at 1.00am and re-open at 8.00am on Tuesday 4th May.

N.B. Summer vacation. On Saturday 5th June the Library will close at 5.30pm and reopen on Monday 7th June at 8.00am.

N.B. Borrowing books.  When the staffed service points are shut you may continue to borrow and return books using the self service machines. However if you encounter  any problems you will need to speak to a member of library staff the following day.  The security staff who are on duty during the extended opening hours are not able to assist you with the use of self-service machines, photocopiers, printers or computers.

Please note that there will be no admittance without a valid Queen’s staff/student /library card after 09.30pm (8.00pm on Fridays, 5.00pm at the weekend).
And, only Queen’s University students may remain in the building after midnight (8.30pm on Fridays and 9.00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Security staff may make random checks on ID during the extended opening hours.
