The Library’s Open Access Team has published, on behalf of the University, an Article Processing Charges (APCs) expenditure report for the period April 2019 to March 2020.
During this period a total of 212 articles were made immediately open access via the gold route at a cost of £236,822 (excluding other publication costs).
Points of interest:
- ‘Hybrid’ APCs remain considerably more expensive than APCs paid to fully open access journals.
- 76% of APCs paid during the period where made to fully open access journals
- The most expensive APC (£4,750) was paid to the ‘hybrid’ journal ACS pharmacology and translational science
- The full report can be viewed on Queen’s Research Portal.
