The Tower Building
The Main Library Tower Building and its Student Computer Centre (SCC) will close for the final time at 5.30pm (SCC and Photocopying Room at 5.00pm) on Friday 12 June 2009. The books, journals and other material will be then transferred to the new library at College Park.
The Old Building
The Issue Desk and the first floor study area will be open as usual throughout June. It will close for the final time on Monday 6th July 2009 at 5.30pm (Issue Desk at 5.00pm).
Request Service for material located in the Main Library
From Saturday 13 June until the new building is fully operational, a request service will operate to enable you to access this stock.
How to use the Request Service
Until Saturday 4 July – a Request Service will be available in the Main Library
Books
1. Identify the item you need using the Library catalogue (QCat).
2. Fill in a request form, which will be available from the Main Library Issue Desk or, will be accessible on the Library website.
3. Hand the completed form to Issue Desk staff in the Main Library or email it to storerequest@qub.ac.uk.
4. Collect the item from the Main Library. It will be available for you to consult or borrow after 12 noon on the next working day. The item should be collected within 2 further working days.
Journals
Journal articles, copyright permitting, will be photocopied and sent to you in the internal mail or left at the Main Library for you to collect. If the item you requested cannot be retrieved within 2 working days, you will be offered an inter-library loan request.
From Monday 6 July – when the Main Library is closed
Books
1. Identify the item you need using the Library catalogue (QCat)
2. Fill in a request form which will be available from the Issue Desk in any branch of the University Library or will be accessible on the Library website.
3. Hand the completed form to Issue Desk staff in any branch of the University Library or email it to storerequest@qub.ac.uk.
4. Collect the item from the Seamus Heaney Library. It will be available for you to consult or borrow from 12 noon on the next working day and should be collected within 2 further working days.
Journals
Journal articles, copyright permitting, will be photocopied and sent to you in the internal mail or left at the Seamus Heaney Library for you to collect. If the item you requested cannot be retrieved within 2 working days, you will be offered an inter-library loan request.
Special Collections
From 5.00pm on Friday 19 June, the Special Collections Office and Reading Room will close. Anyone wishing to consult Special Collections material after this date, should contact the staff in Special Collections direct at specialcollections@qub.ac.uk
QCAT – The Library Catalogue
The Library Catalogue will be unavailable from Friday 10 July at 5.00 pm until Wednesday 15 July. Electronic resources will be unaffected and these can be accessed from the Electronic Journals A-Z and QSearch links on the Library home page and the Online Resources section of the Library website.
