Success in Student Council elections

The DUA are pleased to report successes in the 2011 elections for the Students’ Union Council, with an increased number of members from the various faculties being elected this year.

We stood in these elections making clear our objectives for the coming year should we be elected – these include:

  • Ensuring accountability of sabbatical officers;
  • Striving to make the University and Students’ Union more respectful of ALL sections of the student population and not be a ‘cold house’ for anyone;
  • Fighting to protect minority subjects at Queen’s and stop the axing of courses;
  • Standing up for democracy and opposing any activity on campus that runs contrary to it.

We will work with others with the aim of making a positive impact in the coming months.
