Microsoft Teams

GROUP CHAT, TEAM CHAT, COLLABORATION

Microsoft Teams is an app in the Office 365 suite of applications. It is used for collaborative work between staff and students and among students (for video calls which facilitate teaching, seminars, and other meetings; for communications via Chat, sharing files and using the other Office 365 apps with people in the Team).

Teams Updates

Guest Access in Teams

External users can join Queen’s Teams and Teams Meetings. An external user is anyone who does not have a QUB staff or student account.

See Guide to adding Guests for more information.

Breakout Rooms in Teams

In all but the smallest meetings, it can be hard to have open discussions and a meaningful exchange of ideas. Create breakout rooms to bring participants into small groups for lively conversation and brainstorming sessions.

See Breakout Rooms for more information.

Note currently only meeting organizers on the desktop versions of Teams (Windows and Mac) can create and manage breakout rooms.

What's New

Teams Meeting Pre-join Experience

We have now improved the pre-join meeting experience for Teams meetings including easier discovery of audio, video, and device configurations before joining a meeting. Previously, you had to go to settings to change meeting devices, but now these can be easily adjusted prior to the meeting in the pre-join experience.

Click here for more new functionality.
