About

Welcome to the hub of the Ancient, Medieval, and Early Modern community at QUB. The Medieval Forum is a Ph.D. student-led interdisciplinary research forum, with contributions from staff and students from across the School of History and Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics, the School of Arts, English and Languages, and the School of Natural and Built Environment.

Our primary aim is to engage with the medievalist community both in Queen’s and beyond. The Medieval Forum is a platform designed to support and promote PG and staff research and output, to encourage the career progression of our PG and Post Doc. members, and to demonstrate the exemplary depth and breadth of specialism at Queen’s University Belfast.

Research at Queen’s covers a broad spectrum of both time and focus across many disciplines. Current Ph.D. research includes medieval ludic narratives, post-Black Death mobility, late medieval attitudes to St. Patricks Purgatory, and the economic and agrarian landscape of Medieval Ireland. Staff focus is primarily on Britain and Ireland, but also includes Carolingian, late antique, and Graeco-Roman history.
