Valentine’s All the Law of Northern Ireland now available from the Lexis Library

Valentine’s All the Law of Northern Ireland is now available through the commentary section of the Lexis Library.

The database includes the full annotated text of Acts, Orders, Rules and regulations applying to Northern Ireland, along with a note of relevant Northern Ireland and Irish case law. A few English cases are noted if they are of particular importance to Northern Ireland.

Legislation is arranged according to broad subject areas which can be explored by selecting ‘Valentine’ from the Browse option in the Commentary section of the Lexis Library.  The subject areas are grouped under a general statutes heading (GENSTATS) and a criminal statutes heading (CRIMSTATS). The Quick Search option under Commentary also allows keyword searches to be restricted to Valentine’s All the Law of Northern Ireland using the drop-down menu choice.

All the Law of Northern Ireland has been compiled for many years by Barry Valentine, a practicing barrister in Northern Ireland and made available on CD. LexisNexis have now undertaken to continue revising the database and will be looking to further integrate notes within All the Law of Northern Ireland to additional sources within the Lexis Library.

Over 1400 Elsevier e-books added to the QCat Library Catalogue

E-book access to over 1400 Elsevier titles has now been added to the QCat Library Catalogue. The e-books will be available until the end of September 2015 and cover a broad range of subjects in science, medicine and engineering. Full text access is available both on and off campus (Queen’s login required for off campus access). After September, the Library will retain up to 150 of the most used titles as permanent additions to the catalogue.

Titles are available from the following subject collections: Biological & Food Sciences, Biomedical Science & Medicine, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Materials Science, Mathematics, Pharmacology, Physics & Astronomy, and Psychology.

As we will only be able to retain a relatively small proportion of the e-books now available, we would encourage everyone to make full use of the titles in the period to September 2015, in order that our purchased titles will best reflect current research and teaching interests.
