Below is a list of recordings for key training sessions delivered over the past year. Dates of recordings have been noted as some sessions were delivered to support staff at a particular point of the pandemic. Canvas Assignments
 
This session focuses on the application of the Canvas Assignment checklist to ensure any potential pit-falls are avoided during examination period. Practical advice is provided on how to prepare for assessment in Canvas with set-up and administration of assignments and an introduction to marking of submissions.

Canvas Quizzes
 
If you are intending to use Canvas Quizzes as the method of assessment for high stakes summative assessment, then this practical session is relevant to you. The session covers the set-up of quizzes as well as the potential problems that may occur and how to avoid them to ensure your quizzes run as smoothly as possible!

Marking and Exporting in Canvas
 
This short session focuses on the use of Canvas Gradebook and Speedgrader to mark student submissions. It includes guidance on the key settings that must be enabled to prevent the unintentional posting of grades to students. Also covered is the extraction of the marks once marking is completed.
 
Blackboard Ally
 
This practical session will give you hands-on experience of Blackboard Ally tool in Canvas, focusing on the Course Report Tool to understand overall course accessibility and the Instructor Feedback Experience to help fix any issues. The session will also provide support for any queries or accessibility issues you may have.
 

Online Training Courses

Getting Started

‘Getting Started with Canvas at Queen’s’ is an online, self-paced introduction to Canvas which consists of 8 lessons.  The aim of the course is to prepare you to effectively and efficiently use Canvas to facilitate learning within your academic course(s), whether they are traditional, blended or fully online.

Connected Learning

‘Connected Learning at Queen’s’ is an online, self-paced Canvas course, designed to support you in the development and delivery of your Canvas course during AY2020/21. The course includes tailored online guidance materials, short how-to type videos supported by a range of virtual training activities to guide you in your Connected Learning Journey.

Small Group Teaching

This self-paced online course is intended for anyone new to teaching, including postgraduate teaching assistants and lab demonstrators. The course will introduce teaching fundamentals when supporting small groups, both face-to-face and online, with particular focus on Universal Design for Learning (UDL), accessibility and inclusive teaching activities.

Accessibility Toolkit

This online course has been designed to inform you about accessibility, advise on how to create accessible content for learner variability, provide examples of good/bad practice, highlight tools which you can use to fix accessibility issues (e.g. Canvas Accessibility Checker, Blackboard Ally) and to signpost to monthly Training & Accessibility Drop-In Clinics.
