iPhone IMAP Settings for Students

Students can not use the MAPI/Exchange mode supplied with the iPhone due to our QUB settings.  However, IMAP connections should work as follows:

  • Setup
  • Other account, Fill in :- Name, Address       
  • Choose IMAP
  • Incoming mail server is: student-xchange.ads.qub.ac.uk,Username,Password
    Advanced incoming settings:-Use SSL = on,Authentication = password, Server Port = 993
  • Outgoing mail server is: smtp.qub.ac.uk,Username,Password,Use SSL on,Authentication = password,Server port is 465

  1. It says that my username or password is wrong.

    Is the username your email address (without the @qub.ac.uk), and is your password your standard password?

    1. Hi Angus,
      Any students who have been migrated to Office 365 may have problems synching their mobile devices with their email box. We are aware of the problem and are working to get a solution in place. In the meantime normal access will work from any standard desktop/laptop device. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

  2. Hi, I used to be able to get my emails on my iphone but since the changeover it wont connect. I have tried to set it up again but it still won’t work, is there any way to fix this?
