Festive Treats with The Pantry

Did you get yourself down to The Pantry for a pre-Christmas break shop?

We have some easy-peasy festive recipes for you, using some of the ingredients available from your free refill station.

Festive Spiced Oats

Spice up your morning porridge with some festive flavour. This recipe utilises cinnamon, raisins and rolled oats from The Pantry, and is sure to keep you warm on wintery mornings.

You will need:

  • 50g rolled oats (The Pantry)
  • 15g raisins (The Pantry)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (The Pantry)
  • 350ml of your choice of milk or milk alternative
  • A small handful of dried cranberries
  • 1 or 2 teaspoons of maple syrup

Instructions:

  1. Pour your porridge oats into a saucepan, along with your milk or milk alternative and bring to the boil. Simmer for 4-5 minutes and stir occasionally.
  2. Add in your cinnamon, raisins and dried cranberries and stir until well blended.
  3. Add your maple syrup to taste.
  4. Serve hot in a bowl and enjoy.

Cinnamon Krispie Squares

This seasonal twist on a classic provides a tasty after dinner bite and will also have your kitchen smelling festive with the scent of cinnamon.

You will need:

  • 1 tsp cinnamon (The Pantry)
  • 300g Rice Krispies (The Pantry)
  • 125g butter
  • 100g chocolate chips
  • 400g marshmallows

Instructions:

  1. In a pan, combine the butter, marshmallows and cinnamon and melt. Mix until smooth. 
  2. Pour your Rice Krispies into a bowl and pour your mixture over. Once evenly mixed
  3. Once evenly mixed, pour the mixture into a greased pan.
  4. Melt your chocolate chips and drizzle over the top. Allow to set, then slice into squares and serve.

Twixmas Granola Bars

The period between Christmas and New Year’s Day, otherwise known as Twixmas, can be a busy time of the year. Keep your energy up with these Twixmas treats; a perfect snack for revision, braving the January sales crowds or a mid-morning snack.

You will need:  

  • 200g porridge oats (The Pantry)
  • 100g sunflower seeds (The Pantry)
  • 50g sesame seeds (The Pantry)
  • 1tsp ground cinnamon (The Pantry)
  • 100g butter
  • 3 tsp honey
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 50g raisins

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oven to 160°C or 140°C if you have a fan oven. Butter and line the base of a tin.
  2. Pour the seeds and oats in a roasting dish and toast in the oven for 8 minutes.
  3. Warm the honey, butter and sugar in a pan. Add the oat mix, cinnamon and raisins and mix together.
  4. Tip the mixture into a greased tin, press slightly and bake for 30 minutes.
  5. Allow to cool and then slice into bars.
