7 Belfast Eateries You Need to Try

You’re in luck as Belfast is a foodie’s city of dreams! Eating out is a nice way to give yourself a break from cooking and explore the city. There’s something for for everyone whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, gluten free or have any other dietary requirements.

1. Boojum

We must start off with a Queen’s student favourite – Boojum, a casual Mexican burrito bar based on Botanic with more restaurants across the city.  Slow-cooked meats, the freshest ingredients and authentic salsas made daily.

2. Tribal Burger

Another hot spot located on Botanic Ave! Tribal Burger works with local producers to bring you the best locally sourced ingredients.

With a range of burgers, chicken, fries and shakes- there is something for everyone. A personal favourite of ours is the vegan falafel burger.

3. Orto

Orto is an all-day Pizzabar located just on the corner of Belfast’s tranquil Botanic Gardens. Using wood-fired pizza oven, we produce an all-day offering of focaccia and pizza, alongside a carefully curated specialty coffee.

4. Villa Italia

Villa Italia is a family run pizzeria restaurant a stone’s throw from Queen’s University. Surrounded by rustic Italian interiors, you can’t help but feel transported to the streets of dreamy Rome! With delicious food at reasonable prices, this is the perfect spot to go with your house mates, uni friends or family if they come to visit Belfast.

5. La Taqueria

La Taqueria is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Belfast (in our opinion anyway, sorry Boojum!)

A small family of independent taco restaurants in Belfast, with amazing flavours and recipes that showcase some of Northern Ireland’s famous local produce but also Mexico’s amazing ingredients that they ship themselves.

If you are a fan of margaritas you have to give their coconut and spicy margs a go!

 6. The Cuban Sandwich Factory

The Cuban Sandwich Factory is situated close to campus on Botanic Ave so it’s great for a quick meal before lectures. Make sure you come with an empty stomach thought because the portions are HUGE!

7. Chubby Cherub

And finally, the award for the most Instagrammable restaurant has to go to the Chubby Cherub!

If you are a fan of Italian food then you will love The Chubby Cherub in Belfast City Centre. Delicious cuisine inspired by authentic Italian recipes- it’s the perfect date spot.

Or if you want something quick to go, check out their deli on Upper Arthur street (just around the corner of the main restuarant!)
