Architecture Welcome Week

Architecture’s Welcome Week this year introduced our new Stage One students to campus life, the pace of learning architecture and to the city in which they will be studying for three years.  We kicked off with a fun studio project called Project Zero, a challenge for the students to design the most UNsustainable house they could create in a few hours within a team.  An enthusiastic group from Stage Two also guided the new students around the campus, introducing them to lecture rooms, workshops and social spaces.  Mid week, new students met with their personal tutors and then spent the afternoon in an open question and answer session with older students, including undergrad, masters and PhD students.  Friday saw the students on walking tours around the city given by a variety of architects and students; tours included an introduction to PLACE Architecture Centre, the history of Queen’s area,  the churches of Belfast, Donegall Square, Art Deco Belfast and the Cathedral Quarter.
