Training is available to all AFBI Library users in the form of the training programme outlined below.  Click on the links to make a booking.

In addition, we can provide individual or small group training covering search strategies, using databases, bibliometrics and EndNote. We can help you to set up current awareness email alerts to keep you up to date with published research in your field of interest. We also welcome any queries you may have on copyright and Open Access.

Welcome to AFBI Library

This bitesize session will give you an overview on how to use AFBI Library Online effectively to find books, journals, articles and databases.  This is an ideal introductory session for new AFBI staff or for those who would like to know how to access AFBI library e-resources.  Tea and coffee provided.

Web of Science – A Closer Look

This practical one-hour session explores the advanced features of the Web of Science database, including effective search techniques, finding cited references, h-indices, journal quartiles and personalised features.  Tea and coffee provided.

Choosing Open Access Journals for Publication

This session provides practical advice on finding out more about Open Access publications. Useful for any AFBI staff interested in either publishing or learning more about Open Access. Tea and coffee provided.

EndNote for Researchers

This hands-on course will be taken by Patrick and Kriss from the AFBI Library and is suitable for new EndNote users or for those who would like a refresher on using EndNote to support their research output.

Course content includes:

  • Creating and backing up your EndNote library
  • Creating and importing new references from a range of resources
  • Organising your references and managing your library
  • Using EndNote to automatically create citations and bibliographies
  • EndNote Online
