Special Collections is pleased to announce that Part 1 of the McWilliams Collection (MS 87) is now available for consultation.

The collection, which is a part of the Modern Political Collections project, is the first donation of personal papers from Monica McWilliams, Emeritus Professor in the Transitional Justice Institute at Ulster University, co-founder of the Northern Ireland Women’s Coalition, and human rights defender.

In 1996, Monica McWilliams was elected to the Multi-Party Talks with the aim of bringing peaceful resolution to the period known as the Troubles, or Northern Ireland Conflict. This collection of personal papers offers unique insight into the Northern Ireland Peace Process, including documents relating to the pre-talks period, the negotiation of the Good Friday Agreement 1998, and the process of implementing of the agreement during Professor McWilliams’s time as a Member of the Legislative Assembly.

A full listing of the McWilliams Collection can be found on the Special Collections webpages.

The collection can be consulted by appointment at Special Collections. Please contact us to arrange consultation.
