Airlie House Collection MS 94
Special Collections is pleased to announce that the Airlie House Collection (MS 94) is now available for consultation.
The collection, which is a part of the Modern Political Collections project, is a set of papers pertaining to the Airlie House Conference on Northern Ireland, held in January 1985. Organised by international peacemaker Padraig O’Malley, the conference brought together parties from the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, and key representatives from Northern Ireland, for discussions aimed at bringing peaceful resolution to the Northern Ireland conflict.
The significance of the event is highlighted by its attendees, which included the leader of the Alliance Party John Cushnahan, DUP deputy leader Peter Robinson, and SDLP leader John Hume, who was later awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace for his role in the Northern Ireland peace process.
A full listing of the Airlie House Collection can be found on the Special Collections webpages.
