The HOTCON group has recently been formed at Queen’s University Belfast. It is a research group that focuses on the strength and temperature development in safety critical concrete structures in hot and cold weather applications, the effect of early-age thermal and shrinkage stresses in mass concrete and the effectiveness of supplementary cementitious materials in mitigating thermal cracking.
