Welcome to the fourth issue of the Social Sciences Student Journal!

My name is Dr Ulrike M Vieten, and I took over the academic coordination for the Journal from Dr Teresa Degenhardt, in February this year.

Apart from working as Editor-In-Chief for the European Journal of Cultural and Political Sociology, since 2020, I do have ample experiences with editing at different stages of my career. I think the student journal offers exciting possibilities for you to start publishing – and as you can see in this issue – several students used the platform to do that.

In future, we might organise a short workshop for interested students willing to learn more about publishing with refereed journals. Another idea is to run a focus group on post-pandemic studies in HE/ at QUB and encourage you to write about your experiences. The format of this could be a written conversation, or a visual diary, for example.

Kelly, now PhD student in our School, continues to be the main editor; it is a pleasure to work with her and accompanying the journal on its intellectual journey.
