On Thursday 4th and Friday 5th June 2015, the translation and interpreting studies group at QUB hosted its second international postgraduate conference. The theme of the conference was “Territories of Understanding: Conflict and Encounter”. Papers were presented on a wide range of topics related to conflict and encounter in politics, history, literature, the media, culture, and, of course, translation and interpreting. The feedback we’ve had so far has all been very positive. Delegates particularly enjoyed the keynote lectures given by Prof. Susan Bassnett, Prof. Michael Cronin and Dr Samia Bazzi, as well as the social evening in QUB’s Great Hall, which included Irish music and plenty of dancing! Many thanks to all those who took part, especially those who travelled from far afield to join us, for sharing your research and ideas, and for making the conference such a success.
