October marks Black History Month, a time to share, celebrate, and deepen our understanding of the impact of Black heritage and culture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s theme, Standing Firm in Power and Pride<\/strong>, celebrates the strength, resilience, and achievements of Black communities. Here in Belfast and at Queen\u2019s, it\u2019s an opportunity to recognise the voices, stories, and contributions that continue to shape our University and City. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join a Society<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The African and Caribbean Society (ACS) at Queen\u2019s aims to \u2018enhance the University experience by exploring and celebrating African and Caribbean cultures at QUB.\u2019<\/em> The Society provides a welcoming hub for students from diverse backgrounds and for anyone interested in learning more about Black heritage and culture. Queen\u2019s Radio Takeover <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The African and Caribbean Society took over the airwaves of Queen\u2019s Radio earlier this month, marking Black History Month with conversations about music, culture, and all things African and Caribbean. You can listen back to the show here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Catch a Film at QFT<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Queen\u2019s Film Theatre has an incredible line-up this month, including The Colour Purple<\/em><\/a>, Souleymane\u2019s Story<\/em><\/a>, and, as part of the Cinema Rediscovered<\/em> series, Nationalit\u00e9: Immigr\u00e9<\/em><\/a>. Don\u2019t forget, students get discounted tickets, so be sure to bring your student card!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celebrate Across the City<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Keep an eye on Belfast City Hall, which will be lit up in red on 17 October to mark Black History Month 2025 as a city-wide symbol of pride, rcognition, and unity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Culture Night in the Great Hall<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mark your calendars for 30 October, when the African and Caribbean Society joins forces with the Egyptian<\/a> and Sudanese<\/a> Societies for an unforgettable night of talent, food, and culture in the Great Hall, proudly supported by Queen\u2019s Students\u2019 Union.
