SU Clubs and Societies is a great way to get involved with your Students’ Union, make new friends and find new hobbies and interests. We have 220 Clubs & Societies, so there’s most definitely something for everyone! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s have a look at some you may be surprised exist…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Underwater Hockey<\/strong> Club<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Underwater hockey, or octopush, is a fun, fast paced and exhilarating team sport played with short sticks and a puck at the bottom of the pool. Players wear fins, a mask, a snorkel, a protective glove and headgear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a very unique game; it’s 3-dimensional and requires you to play while holding your breath. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Cheerleading Club<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve ever been interested in cheerleading, look no further! Show your university spirit by cheering with the Knights and perhaps even competing competitively. The Cheerleading club perform stunts, tumbles, dances, and jumps \u2013 this may sound intimating, but no experience is necessary for joining. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Powerlifting Club<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Only ratified in 2021, so relatively new to the SU Clubs & Societies scene, the Powerlifting Club focuses on health, wellbeing and self expression through lifting weights and slamming plates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of maxing out on the “Big Three” lifts: the squat, the bench press, and the deadlift. It’s a great way relieve stress, meet new people and have fun (all while getting fitter!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t worry if you’ve never tried it before, there is always experienced spotters at each training session to keep you right. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Ultimate Frisbee Club<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Considered as one of the fastest growing sports in the world, Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact sport which is played both indoors (5 a side) and outdoors (7 a side). Queen’s Ultimate Frisbee has been growing from strength to strength over the past couple of years with many awards under their belt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Wakeboard & Waterski Club<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Wakeboard and Waterski club are a super fun group that meet at Let’s Go Hydro in Carryduff on Wednesday evenings. The club is open to all ability levels from complete beginners who have never tried it before, and seasoned pros who are able to hit obstacles.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They supply club boards and there are helmets, wetsuits, and buoyancy aids so there\u2019s no need to worry if you don’t have all the equipment! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. The KPop Society<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Do you love KPOP and want to learn the choreography to your favourite songs? The KPop Society (also our Society of the Year winners at the 2022 SU Awards!) has dance classes every Wednesdays with all levels of experience welcome! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If dance isn’t your thing, they also host events such as quizzes or exclusive members-only socials. If you’re interested, follow the KPop Society on Facebook<\/a> and Instagram<\/a> or email them via kpop-society@qub.ac.uk<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

7<\/strong>. Electronic Music Society<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Electronic Music Society provides a friendly and engaging environment where people interested in all forms of electronic music can share their passion whether it be DJing, production or event promotion! EMS aims to create opportunities for students interested in DJing, music production and event promotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Esports Society<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Queen’s Esports is a society which focuses primarily on competitive gaming (Esports) that aims to provide the platform and opportunity for students to represent the University in a similar way to traditional sports in both the UK and Ireland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Wine and Cheese Society<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Wine and Cheese society, what a brie-liant idea! This society brings together like-minded wine and cheese lovers to socialise, have fun and take part in cheesy quizzes and wine tasting to bar crawls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. QUB Robotics Society<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the Robotics Society is to give students the chance to learn about this rapidly-growing field, build team-working relationships, and have fun doing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an industry that many students from Queen\u2019s may go on to work in upon graduation, the society provides an opportunity to learn more about the theory, while allowing all members to collaborate, come up with ideas, solve problems and be fully creative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
