Students and Staff Having a Ball at\nQueen\u2019s University Belfast <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Queen\u2019s\nUniversity Students\u2019 Union Enterprise department hosted its very first May Ball\nto celebrate entrepreneurial achievements of students and staff across the\nUniversity.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sponsored by\nFirst Trust, over 100 guests attended the glittering black tie event which took\nplace in The Great Hall at QUB.  The\nevening consisted of student quick pitches, a banquet dinner, awards and three\nentrepreneurial speakers who shared their start-up journeys; Savannah Dodd, Photography Ethics Centre<\/em>, Ciaran Lynch,\nGig Grafter<\/em>, and Katie Matthews, Excel in Education.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six awards\nwere presented on the night including \u2018Student Entrepreneur of the Year\u2019 sponsored by Free-ist<\/em>, \u2018Enterprise\nEducator of the Year\u2019, sponsored by\nEnterprise SU<\/em>, \u2018Rising Star\u2019, sponsored\nby Queen\u2019s Management School<\/em>, \u2018Enterprise Champion\u2019, sponsored by the QUB School Of Electronics, Electrical Engineering And\nComputer Science, <\/em>\u2018People\u2019s Choice\u2019, sponsored\nby the QUB Graduate Association<\/em> and \u2018Innovateher of the Year\u2019, sponsored by PWC<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On winning the Student Entrepreneur of the Year, Brendan Digney said, \u201cIt’s amazing to win this prestigious award – it’s been a long and at times difficult process.\u00a0 To receive this recognition is a real encouragement, and reaffirmation that the hard work is paying off.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

On organising the May Ball, Enterprise Officer Victoria Coulter commented, \u201cThe May Ball provided Enterprise SU with a brilliant opportunity to celebrate our fantastic students and to showcase their successes to a wider audience.\u00a0 It was lovely to organise such an inspirational evening and hopefully this is the first of many May Balls!<\/em>\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The\nevent was one of many initiatives organised by Enterprise SU, the\nentrepreneurial department of Queen\u2019s Students\u2019 Union, which works to help\nstudents develop enterprise skills and start their own businesses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
