3 Reasons Why You Should Vote in the SU Elections!

It’s that time of year again! The SU Elections are fast approaching, so you’ll be seeing lots of campaign posters, exciting activities, and maybe even a few sweet treats around campus. Beyond the buzz of election weeks’ atmosphere, making your voice heard is one of the easiest ways to shape your student experience at Queen’s. Here’s why we think you should get involved:

1. Freebies? Yes Please!

Whether it’s free breakfast or a bubble tea to enjoy during your lecture; there will be plenty of opportunities and activities to grab yourself a treat between classes! There’s only one condition… vote!

*T&Cs apply, while stocks last

2. Your Voice WILL Spark Change!

Our union exists to represent you.

Your elected student officers have a responsibility to advocate for your concerns on campus. Whether that’s welfare support, student rights, campus facilities, or academic experiences; you’re not just ticking a box, you’re choosing who speaks for you.

Real change on campus starts with students deciding what matters most and backing candidates who share that vision.

3. It Takes Two Minutes – and Shapes your Whole Year

You may not realise it, but the work of Student Officers and Reps is felt across campus. These have all resulted from the work of Student Officers and Reps do:

  • Funding for cost-of-living initiatives like The Pantry and Free Breakfasts.
  • Extended academic deadlines.
  • Events celebrating LGBTQ History Month and Chinese New Year.
  • More recorded lectures.
  • Increased maintenance loans.

  • Free safety alarms for students on campus.
