Check Out Your Students’ Union

An SU is much, much more than a building (we’re the No.1 SU in the UK after all!), we have to admit ours is pretty great…

Have a quick scan through this blog to find out more about everything within your new Students’ Union:

Ground Floor

On entry to the Union, you’ll find reception as well as loads of places to relax, study and catch up with coursemates.

Union Shop

This is your one-stop shop on campus. Our Union Shop includes a vegan-friendly barista bar and hot food counter for quick grab-and-go meals.

At the back of the Union Shop you’ll also find Queen’s University branded merchandise such as hoodies and all the stationary items you might need for your studies.

Swap Shop

The Swap Shop is a new sustainable and cost-effective way of shopping for students. Swap pre-loved clothing and items to refresh your wardrobe or spruce up your digs.

The Pantry

The Pantry is a free refill station for students to stock up on household essentials such as pastas, cereals, herbs, spices and more. All you need to visit is your own containers and your Student ID.

Mandela Hall

Mandela Hall is our music and entertainment venue on the ground floor, and hosts club nights (like our official Freshers’ Club Night!), concerts and comedy shows throughout the year. Find out what’s on through their website or via our events section.

First Floor

Service Area Office

Want to know more about any of our programmes, competitions or activities? You can find our teams who run Clubs and Societies, Enterprise, Voice and Volunteering in the office at the very top of the social staircase.

Student Officers

Each year, Queen’s students are elected to become Student Officers. The team leads the Students’ Union and is here to help you, represent you, organise campaigns to make the changes you want to see. Your Student Officers are located at the back of Level One. With some social space just outside the office you can chat easily – or if you prefer, the SU Little Yellow Room and the SU Little Blue Room can be used for more privacy.

Second Floor

SU Collaboration Space

A collaborative workspace sporting long tables and booths (all with plug sockets) for group projects or small snugs to revise or complete coursework. Or softer seating with sofas and lounge chairs to allow you to catch up with friends or grab a bite to eat.

The Union Bar & Wee Bar

Open seven days a week, with a host of free events, take a break from your studies, and stop by the Union Bar and Roof Terrace for tasty food, live music, pool, quizzes, live sport and more.

Third Floor

SU Advice

At the union, we have a team of friendly advisors to provide students with free, independent, confidential, and non-judgemental advice.

If you have worries or issues to do with money, funding, accommodation, your education, or your health and well-being they are there to help.

You can drop by Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Friday from 11:30am – 2pm.

Sexual Health Clinic

Our free SU Sexual Health Clinic is also located on Level 3, just next to SU Advice and is available Mondays during term time from 9am – 3pm.

SU Lounge and Balcony

Access a free kitchen space with microwaves to heat up your lunch while you enjoy a free cup of tea or coffee. We’ve also pool tables, table tennis, books and boardgames for you to use and a student balcony to relax in (weather permitting!).

Quiet Rooms

Just off the lounge you can find the two quiet rooms on site which can be used for quiet reflection or meditation.

SU CoWork

Our SU CoWork is a dedicated office space for students participating in our business programmes and competitions or for those students who have leadership roles within the Union as Faculty Reps or Association Chairs.
