Special Collections is pleased to announce that a new section of the Alderdice Collection (MS 88\/2) is now available for consultation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These papers are the second release of material in the Alderdice Collection. The collection, which is a part of the Modern Political Collections project, is a donation of personal papers from Lord John Alderdice, former Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly and leader of the Alliance Party Northern Ireland. The collection offers unique insight into Lord Alderdice\u2019s significant contribution to liberal politics, human rights, and conflict resolution both in Northern Ireland and at an international level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This section contains 14 boxes of items dating largely from 1985 to 1992, comprising correspondence, press clippings, policy papers, meeting minutes, party strategy documents, and handwritten notes. These documents provide insight into Lord John Alderdice\u2019s political career during the period prior to the Multi-Party Talks, 1991\u20131992 and during their earliest stages, following the 1985 Anglo-Irish Agreement and its period of review in 1988.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special Collections & Archives works in collaboration with the Quill Project, based in Pembroke, Oxford. As part of the Writing Peace<\/em> initiative, Quill catalogued and digitised parts of the Alderdice Collection.
