The display cases have an air exchange rate of c. 0.5 air changes per day (which helps to buffer external environmental conditions and maintain a stable temperature and humidity level in the interior) and gas spring assisters enable easy access to the hinged cases, which are opened using glazing suckers. The new display cases are slightly lower than our previous display case, giving a much greater level of accessibility to our exhibits.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/specialcollections\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2016\/09\/Display-objects-composite.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The inaugural exhibition in the new display cases highlights some interesting treasures from our collections, including a bill spike which belonged to Irish novelist and literary critic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/directorates\/InformationServices\/TheLibrary\/FileStore\/Filetoupload,606978,en.pdf\">Forrest Reid<\/a>, a stunning facsimile edition of <a href=\"https:\/\/encore.qub.ac.uk\/iii\/encore_qub\/record\/C__Rb1007395\">The Book of Kells<\/a>, composer and conductor <a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.qub.ac.uk\/c.php?g=282353&amp;p=1881170\">Hamilton Harty\u2019s<\/a> collapsible Opera Hat, and a <a href=\"http:\/\/omeka.qub.ac.uk\/exhibits\/show\/irelandandcolonies\/palmleaf\">palm leaf manuscript<\/a> containing a copy of <i>Gu\u1e47\u1e47antarac\u00a0 nisya<\/i> by Shin S\u0101rava\u1e43sa,
