The &nbsp;module focuses on a team-based project and teams usually consists of 4-5 students; most students spend a year in industry before taking their final year. The QUB\/EEECS code of the SEFYP module is CSC3032; our documentation includes this code for reference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The projects require either the construction of a new software system &nbsp;or the contribution to an existing codebase; each team member is responsible for a key component of the &nbsp;system (e.g., a functionality, an API). The module covers two semesters:  SEM1  (mid September \u2013 mid December) and &nbsp;SEM2 (start of January \u2013 start of April).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Expressions of Interest (EoI)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\"><strong>The call for EoIs  is now closed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SEFYP team  invites non-academic organisations from all sectors and academics across disciplines to challenge our SE students with authentic problems that can be addressed through the design and development of a new software system or the contribution to an existing codebase as part of their SEFYP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organisations and projects committed to <em>responsible and sustainable technology development are strongly encouraged.<\/em> This is in line with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/about\/strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\">QUB Strategy 2030<\/a>, which identifies driving social change, transition to a net-zero society, and embracing the <a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/goals\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/goals\">UN Sustainable Development Goals<\/a> as its priority goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#cceafc38\">To facilitate the co-ordination of the EoI call we work with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/sites\/ScienceShop\/\">QUB-Science shop<\/a> (for community-based projects), with <a href=\"https:\/\/vms-2016-careers.eeecs.qub.ac.uk\/PlacementTeam.aspx\">QUB\/EEECS careers and YOPE team<\/a> (for industry-based projects), and and <a href=\"https:\/\/pure.qub.ac.uk\/en\/prizes\/innovation-in-teaching-fund-2\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pure.qub.ac.uk\/en\/prizes\/innovation-in-teaching-fund-2\">Innovation in Teaching-funded <\/a> inititiave (for cross-department projects).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/sefyp\/eoi\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/sefyp\/eoi\/\">More about the EoI<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Submit your Project Idea<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Respond to the EoI call by sending us your project idea; it only takes 5 minutes!
