But <a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/information-technology\/2015\/03\/the-ambassador-who-worked-from-nairobi-bathroom-to-avoid-state-dept-it\/\">this example<\/a> is one of the worst I&#8217;ve ever heard about.\u00a0The US Ambassador to Kenya &#8220;<em>ordered a commercial Internet connection installed in his embassy office bathroom so he could work there on a laptop not connected to the Department email system<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Apparently the US State Department is currently in the middle of rolling out a new, &#8216;modern&#8217;, desktop suite, based on\u00a0<em>Microsoft Office 2010\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The jokes just write themselves, but in the interests of taste, I&#8217;ll stop here!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>People being people, and academics being academics, there is often a lot of complaining about IT support &#8211; no matter where you are.
