Read these instructions carefully\u00a0<em>before<\/em> clicking through using the links at the bottom of the page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read\u00a0these notes carefully and act on them. At least 20% of users seem to have trouble following the very simple instructions below.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you don&#8217;t include the information we need in the request <strong>we will reject it.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If your request is rejected then clearly you didn&#8217;t follow the instructions. Review them carefully before submitting another request.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t submit multiple requests just because you don&#8217;t get a confirmation within 5 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>These licenses are only available to staff and students in the <strong>School of Mathematics and Physics<\/strong>. We check IDs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you access the Wolfram user portal you will see a screen like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/screenshotsfromtheedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2016\/06\/Wolfram.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-381 alignnone\" alt=\"Screenshot of the Wolfram User Portal\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/screenshotsfromtheedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2016\/06\/Wolfram-802x1024.png\" width=\"584\" height=\"745\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/screenshotsfromtheedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2016\/06\/Wolfram-802x1024.png 802w, https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/screenshotsfromtheedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2016\/06\/Wolfram-235x300.png 235w, https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/screenshotsfromtheedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2016\/06\/Wolfram-768x980.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/screenshotsfromtheedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2016\/06\/Wolfram.png 1728w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First\/last names should need no explanation.<\/li>\n<li>The email address supplied <strong>must<\/strong> be your QUB email address.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>department<\/strong> field please select either <em>Mathematics<\/em> or <em>Physics<\/em> depending on which the section of school you are mostly associated with.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>notes<\/strong> section, please include your <strong>staff\/student number<\/strong> and a\u00a0<em>brief<\/em> note to explain who you are, eg. &#8220;I&#8217;m a PhD student in CPP&#8221;, or &#8220;I&#8217;m a Level 3 student on AMA3999&#8221;.\u00a0This will help us to process your request \u2013 requests without this information will be rejected.<\/li>\n<li>You must select <strong>Mathematica<\/strong> (single machine) as the Product. Do not select the mathLM option!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After your request has been submitted it will be forwarded to the School IT staff for authorisation. Whilst this is pending you will be issued with a temporary 14 day trial activation key and a download link to the Mathematica installer for your preferred OS.<\/p>\n<p>If the request is approved by the School IT staff your trial license key will be automatically converted into a full license.\u00a0 You will receive an email from Wolfram as confirmation.\u00a0 You do not need to take any further action.\u00a0If you need to re-download in the future, the same link can be accessed via the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/user.wolfram.com\">Wolfram user portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If the request is rejected by the School IT staff, your temporary license key will be <em>immediately revoked<\/em>.\u00a0 Any days still remaining within the trial period will become void and the application will cease to function.\u00a0 You will receive a email from Wolfram to explain the reason for the denial.<\/p>\n<p>The School will revoke license keys\u00a0if we see any signs of abuse (eg. software piracy), or when users leave QUB or move to a different School.
