{"id":361,"date":"2016-05-11T09:59:05","date_gmt":"2016-05-11T09:59:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/screenshotsfromtheedge\/?page_id=361"},"modified":"2016-05-11T09:59:05","modified_gmt":"2016-05-11T09:59:05","slug":"mathematica","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/screenshotsfromtheedge\/mathematica\/","title":{"rendered":"Mathematica"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The School of Mathematics and Physics has a site licensing agreement in place with Wolfram Research for Mathematica 10.\u00a0 This agreement covers the following groups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All <strong>Staff<\/strong> within the School<\/li>\n<li><strong>Postgraduate Research Students<\/strong> undertaking a project within the School.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Undergraduate students<\/strong> currently enrolled in a module with one of the following prefixes \u2013 <em>AMA<\/em>,\u00a0<em>PHY<\/em>,\u00a0<em>PMA<\/em>, or <em>SOR.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other users within the University are <strong>not covered<\/strong> by the agreement and must purchase a separate license from Wolfram.<\/p>\n<p>In order to use Mathematica 10, you will need to make sure that your computer meets the following minimum specifications.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Processor \u2013 Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz or equivalent<\/li>\n<li>Disk Space \u2013 8.8 GB<\/li>\n<li>System Memory (RAM) \u2013 2 GB+ recommended<\/li>\n<li>Operating Systems:\n<ul>\n<li>Windows \u2013 Vista or later (NOT compatible with Win XP )<\/li>\n<li>Mac OS X \u2013 Mavericks (10.9) or later<\/li>\n<li>Linux \u2013 Compatible with Debian 7\/8, Centos 6\/7 and Ubuntu 12.04+<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you do meet the all the above requirements, you can follow the links below to learn how to get access:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Mathematica for campus desktop computers\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/screenshotsfromtheedge\/mathematica-for-campus-desktop-computers\/\">Mathematica for Campus-based desktop computers<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Mathematica for Laptop or Off-Campus Use\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/screenshotsfromtheedge\/mathematica-for-laptop-or-off-campus-use\/\">Mathematica for laptops and home use<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note that if you have installed Mathematica via <strong>Munki<\/strong> (Managed Software Center) then it will try to connect to license servers which are only available when connected to the campus ethernet network. If Mathematica can&#8217;t connect to these then it will prompt for a license key &#8211; you can obtain this from the link above.
