More than 1,000 people across Northern Ireland participated in the 2019 ESRC Festival of Social Science, which ran from 2nd<\/sup> to 9th<\/sup> November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The packed programme of talks, workshops, plays and interactive activities was jointly delivered by Queen\u2019s and Ulster University, and showcased the range and quality of social science research being carried out in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival addressed many of social science\u2019s hot topics, including the climate crisis, food culture, feminist protest, spoken language and Brexit. A total of 21 free events were organised by academics from the two universities, which aimed to inspire and inform audiences of all ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UK-wide Festival of Social Science is run annually by the Economic and Social Research Council, and aims to open up social science research to new audiences by showing how such research has an influence on our everyday lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
