{"id":1287,"date":"2016-05-04T17:32:04","date_gmt":"2016-05-04T16:32:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/qpol.qub.ac.uk\/?p=1287"},"modified":"2016-05-04T17:32:04","modified_gmt":"2016-05-04T16:32:04","slug":"spring-festival-isctsj","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/qpol\/spring-festival-isctsj\/","title":{"rendered":"The Spring Festival of Conflict Transformation Gets Underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bertie Ahern and Arlene Foster are among the highlights at t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/research-centres\/isctsj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation and Social Justice\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0Spring Festival of Events at Queen\u2019s University.<\/p>\n<p>On the evening of Tuesday 31 May, Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern speaks on \u2018Reflections on Peace in a Changed Ireland\u2019 while First Minister Arlene Foster delivers the annual Harri Holkeri Lecture on Monday 23 May from 5-7 pm. This is the fourth year of this lecture series and this year\u2019s lecture is entitled \u2018Women, Leadership, and Peacebuilding.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The festival starts Thursday 5 May at 12.30pm with a talk by Dr Shelley Deane on \u2018Feedback from the Frontlines: Syrian Refugees,\u2019 in the Senate Room at Queen\u2019s. There is a total of 14 events over the three and a half week period of the festival, which concludes with the former Taoiseach\u2019s lecture. Events include conferences, seminars, films, research seminars and an art exhibition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All events are free and open to the public, but places are limited so please register to avoid disappointment.<\/strong>\u00a0Registration for Arlene Foster\u2019s lecture closes 13 May while registration for Bertie Ahern\u2019s lecture closes 20 May.<\/p>\n<p>There are two day-long events at the Festival:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prisoner Hunger Strikers in Northern Ireland and Israel\/Palestine: Examining the Long-Term Effects<\/strong>. Monday 9 May, 9-5 in the Canada Room, Lanyon Building, Queen\u2019s University<\/li>\n<li><strong>A workshop on Collaboration for Conflict Transformation: University Engagement with Civil Society<\/strong>. Friday 27 May, 9.30-4pm in 6 College Park, Belfast.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/research-centres\/isctsj\/Events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">For a
