{"id":2507,"date":"2022-05-01T12:34:18","date_gmt":"2022-05-01T11:34:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/mandarinchinese\/?p=2507"},"modified":"2022-05-01T12:36:18","modified_gmt":"2022-05-01T11:36:18","slug":"chinese-and-irish-traditional-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/mandarinchinese\/2022\/05\/01\/chinese-and-irish-traditional-music\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese and Irish Traditional Music &#8211; The Language of The Sound"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Welcome to join us in a<strong> unique traditional music tour between Chinese and Irish music<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the success of the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/mandarinchinese\/2022\/02\/01\/new-year-greetings-and-melody\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/mandarinchinese\/2022\/02\/01\/new-year-greetings-and-melody\/\" target=\"_blank\">joint Celtic-Chinese performance<\/a> for the Chinese New Year celebration organised by the Language Centre and BAME &amp; International Staff Network, we are delighted to run a showcase of Chinese and Irish performance for all Queen&#8217;s staff, students and the general public, as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/sites\/Students\/development-weeks\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/sites\/Students\/development-weeks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Development Week Programme<\/a> at Queen&#8217;s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This showcase and recital will introduce two popular Chinese traditional instruments, Dizi (\u7b1b\u5b50 d\u00edzi) and Guzheng (\u53e4\u7b5d g\u01d4zh\u0113ng) focusing on the playing techniques, in comparison with the local Irish harp (\u7ad6\u7434 sh\u00f9q\u00edn) and flute (\u957f\u7b1b ch\u00e1ngd\u00ed) playing practice. Local people in Northern Ireland not only appreciate their own music, but also the diverse music from a wide range of different cultures, including the Chinese community.
