Her research focuses on grandparenting in Chinese families, which explores childcare arrangements with grandparents\u2019 involvement and intergenerational interactions between grandparents and parents in these childcare arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Outline<\/strong>:<br>Grandparents\u2019 involvement in childcare is a worldwide phenomenon. It is common in the families in China as well. There are several Chinese phrases to describe grandparenting or grandparent childcare such as\u00a0<em>gedai fuyang<\/em>\u00a0(\u9694\u4ee3\u629a\u517b g\u00e9d\u00e0i f\u01d4y\u01ceng),\u00a0<em>gedai fuyu<\/em>\u00a0(\u9694\u4ee3\u629a\u80b2 g\u00e9d\u00e0i f\u01d4y\u00f9),\u00a0<em>gedai jiaoyang<\/em>\u00a0(\u9694\u4ee3\u6559\u517b g\u00e9d\u00e0i ji\u00e0oy\u01ceng) and so forth. The nation is facing continuing low fertility rate and increasing ageing population although the population policy has been shifted to the three-child policy. Childcare seems a central issue in fertility decision-making that underlines the importance to explore grandparent childcare for early year children. This talk aims to share some new insights into grandparenting by exploring childcare arrangements and intergenerational interactions through grandparents\u2019 and parents\u2019
