The Charity Open Access Fund (COAF) is a partnership between six health research charities: \u00a0Versus<\/strong>\u00a0Arthritis,\u00a0Blood Cancer UK, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Parkinson’s UK and the\u00a0Wellcome\u00a0Trust.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Queen\u2019s is one\nof 36\nUK universities and research institutes<\/a> that receives an annual open\naccess block grant allocation to meet the cost of article processing charges\n(APC\u2019s) for research articles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COAF relies on all partners sharing a common open access\n(OA) policy. This will no longer be the case from January 2021 when the Wellcome\nTrust implements its Plan\nS-aligned OA policy<\/a>. Consequently, COAF will end on 30 September 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remaining five health research charities remain\ncommitted to open access and will continue to fund open access\ncosts<\/strong> [PDF 68KB]<\/a> for the researchers they support post\nSeptember 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
