{"id":5923,"date":"2019-12-05T08:58:37","date_gmt":"2019-12-05T08:58:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/library\/?p=5923"},"modified":"2019-12-05T08:58:37","modified_gmt":"2019-12-05T08:58:37","slug":"the-mcclay-library-expansion-project-december-2019-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/library\/2019\/12\/05\/the-mcclay-library-expansion-project-december-2019-update\/","title":{"rendered":"The McClay Library Expansion Project \u2013 December 2019 Update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This is the final in a series of regular updates to keep you informed on\nprogress of the McClay Library Phase 3 expansion project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project delivers a significant number of additional PCs and study\nseats in the library and many of these are now in place:&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The\ncourtyard area on the ground floor provides over 100 PCs and 9 additional study\nrooms (individual and group) &nbsp;<\/li><li>The\nstudent lounge on the ground floor has been doubled in size <\/li><li>Additional\nstudy seats and PCs have been added to floors 1 and 3&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/li><li>A new\ngroup study room has opened on floor 1<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is nearing completion with outstanding work in the following\nareas: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Special\nCollections<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work on the extension to the Special Collections store\nis ongoing with access via staircase 1 and the Special Collections Reading\nRoom. As a result, readers consulting Special Collections are currently being relocated\nto the Special Collections Seminar Room.&nbsp;\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ground floor atrium area<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A new silent study room with 67 seats is being created\nat the bottom of the atrium (opening December 2019)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While we do our utmost to minimise disruption (and particularly disruptive\nwork will be completed out of hours or carried out as early in the morning as\npossible), please note that this is a major building project so there may be\nsome background noise.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any particular feedback or questions, please contact: <a href=\"mailto:library@qub.ac.uk\">library@qub.ac.uk<\/a>.&nbsp; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the final in a series of regular updates to keep you informed on progress of the McClay Library Phase 3 expansion project.
