This year’s International Open Access (OA) Week kicks off on Monday the 22nd October. To celebrate OA week, Queen’s OA team we will be delivering three courses for Staff and PhD students. These courses will cover a range of topics including Open Access, Pure, REF, Copyright, and E-thesis.<\/p>\n
On Monday 22nd<\/sup> October<\/strong> the OA team will be providing an Introduction to Open Access, Pure and Queen\u2019s Research Portal<\/a>.<\/strong> This session is for all staff and PhD students who want to gain an understanding of open access publishing and how it can have a positive impact on their research.\u00a0 It will also demonstrate how students can manage and maintain their research profile and showcase their research on Queen\u2019s institutional repository (Research Portal).<\/p>\n On Tuesday 23rd<\/sup> October<\/strong> we will be running our monthly bite-size (30 min) session on the OA Policy for REF 2021<\/a>. Open access is a requirement for REF eligibility, so if you have a journal article or conference paper accepted for publication you must deposit the accepted manuscript in Pure within three months of acceptance.<\/p>\n Our final training session, \u201cCopyright and your ethesis<\/a>\u201d<\/strong> takes place on Wednesday 24th<\/sup> October<\/strong>.\u00a0Did you know that Queen\u2019s Postgraduate Research students registered from September 2016 are now required to upload an electronic copy of their final thesis to Pure?<\/p>\n This session is for all postgraduate students who want to gain an understanding of copyright and how it applies to their e-thesis. It will make students aware of Queen\u2019s requirement for e-thesis submission and the copyright implications of this.
