{"id":4377,"date":"2017-03-15T15:55:07","date_gmt":"2017-03-15T14:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/library\/?p=4377"},"modified":"2017-03-15T15:55:07","modified_gmt":"2017-03-15T14:55:07","slug":"wellcome-trust-new-publisher-requirements-for-open-access-publications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/library\/2017\/03\/15\/wellcome-trust-new-publisher-requirements-for-open-access-publications\/","title":{"rendered":"Wellcome Trust &#8211; New Publisher Requirements for Open Access publications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/library\/files\/2017\/03\/Wellcome_Trust_logo.svg_.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-4378\" alt=\"Wellcome_Trust_logo.svg\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/library\/files\/2017\/03\/Wellcome_Trust_logo.svg_-300x300.png\" width=\"180\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Wellcome Trust has introduced new <a href=\"https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/funding\/managing-grant\/publisher-requirements\">publisher requirements<\/a> in response to the number of articles that are non-compliant with its open access policy.<\/p>\n<p>From the 1<sup>st<\/sup> April 2017, the Wellcome Trust\/Charity Open Access Fund (COAF) that Queen\u2019s receives to pay Article Processing Charges (APCs) can only be used where the publisher has agreed to the meet the requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Wellcome have published the full list of <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1iKsQN2I4S45SdWox4wuPPW8sQpS9B7h1TK1ThJUOGYo\/edit\">publishers<\/a> who currently comply with their requirements, including Wiley, Elsevier and Springer Nature.<\/p>\n<p>Authors should use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sherpa.ac.uk\/fact\/\">SHERPA\/FACT\u00a0<\/a>or email <a href=\"mailto:openaccess@qub.ac.uk\">openaccess@qub.ac.uk<\/a> before article submission to ensure that their journal of choice meets the Wellcome Trust\u2019s requirements and are therefore eligible to have their APC covered.<\/p>\n<p>For further information on the Wellcome Trust\/COAF fund please visit our <a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.qub.ac.uk\/c.php?g=322847&amp;p=2208007\">LibGuide<\/a> or email <a href=\"mailto:openaccess@qub.ac.uk\">openaccess@qub.ac.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Wellcome Trust has introduced new publisher requirements in response to the number of articles that are non-compliant with its open access policy.
