{"id":4313,"date":"2017-01-23T15:14:55","date_gmt":"2017-01-23T14:14:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/library\/?p=4313"},"modified":"2017-01-23T15:14:55","modified_gmt":"2017-01-23T14:14:55","slug":"queens-university-belfast-submits-apc-expenditure-for-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/library\/2017\/01\/23\/queens-university-belfast-submits-apc-expenditure-for-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Queen\u2019s University Belfast Submits APC expenditure for 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Library\u2019s Open Access Team has submitted, on behalf of the University, an Article Processing Charges (APCs) expenditure report to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jisc-collections.ac.uk\/About-JISC-Collections\/Supporting-transition-to-Open-Access\/\">Jisc Collections<\/a>\u00a0for 2016.<\/p>\n<p>For the past three years Jisc Collections have been working with higher education institutions to collect and openly release article-level data on their APC expenditure.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016 Queen\u2019s University Belfast had a total APC spend of \u00a3223,636.14 which enabled 162 articles by Queen\u2019s authors to be made open access via the gold route.<\/p>\n<p>This is a significant increase in both APC spend and the number of articles made open access in comparison to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pure.qub.ac.uk\/portal\/en\/publications\/queens-university-belfast-apc-expenditure-report-2015(c6cb22c8-c35e-42ef-85b0-3c54395ebf84).html\">2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Other points of interest:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The average cost of an APC has increased by \u00a3258 in comparison to 2015.<\/li>\n<li>62% of APCs were paid to hybrid journals.
