{"id":3033,"date":"2015-04-08T17:03:13","date_gmt":"2015-04-08T16:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/library\/?p=3033"},"modified":"2015-04-08T17:03:13","modified_gmt":"2015-04-08T16:03:13","slug":"library-ambassador-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/library\/2015\/04\/08\/library-ambassador-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"Library Ambassador &#8211; opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><b>WORK IN THE McCLAY LIBRARY <\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b>as a LIBRARY AMBASSADOR !<br \/>\n<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b><i>Are you interested in library work ?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b><i>Would you like to help other students ?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b><i>Are you friendly, approachable, outgoing and reliable ?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0We are recruiting a small number of Library Ambassadors to work in the McClay at the beginning of the next academic year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<i>What is a Library Ambassador ?<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A voluntary, unpaid, temporary post for students who would like to help new students settle in and find their way around the Library at the beginning of term.<\/p>\n<p>You may be able to use the experience to contribute towards the Degree Plus Award (Category B).<\/p>\n<p><strong><i>What do Ambassadors do?<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They help new students with the self-service facilities, show them how to find books, explain how to print and scan and, answer straightforward queries.<\/p>\n<p>They may also provide guided tours and help at the Welcome Stand in the Library.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Requirements ?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Queen\u2019s student re-enrolling in September 2015<\/li>\n<li>Able to attend 2 or 3 training sessions in September<\/li>\n<li>Available to work weeks beginning 21 September, 28 September and \u00a05 October 2015<\/li>\n<li>Willing to work 2 hours (between 11am and 4pm) on \u00a03 days for \u00a03 weeks (18 hours in total)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><i>How to apply \u2026<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Send an A4 page as an email attachment to the <a href=\"mailto:library@qub.ac.uk\"><b>library@qub.ac.uk<\/b><\/a> with \u201c<b><i>Library Ambassador Volunteer<\/i><\/b>\u201d in the subject heading.<\/p>\n<p>Include the following information: &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>1. Your name, student number and Queen\u2019s email address.<\/p>\n<p>2. What you are studying and at what level<\/p>\n<p>3. An outline of any relevant experience or aptitude<\/p>\n<p>4. The reasons why you want to work as a volunteer in the Library.<\/p>\n<p>5. A summary of what you could contribute if selected<\/p>\n<p>The closing date for applications is <b>Friday 24th April 2015<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Who will be selected ?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>On the basis of this application a small number of students will be invited for an informal chat at the end of May \/ early June<\/p>\n<p>It will be a chance for you to decide if you are interested in committing and, for us to decide if you would be suitable for the role.<\/p>\n<p>It will also be an opportunity for you to bring forward ideas for supporting new students in the library.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WORK IN THE McCLAY LIBRARY as a LIBRARY AMBASSADOR !
