We are recruiting a small number of student volunteers to work in the McClay Library at the beginning of the next academic year.<\/p>\n
What is a Library Ambassador ?<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n As a Library Ambassador your role would be to help other students who are new to the University. For example: –<\/p>\n *\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Helping them to use the self service facilities<\/p>\n *\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Giving them a guided tour of the building<\/p>\n *\u00a0\u00a0 Showing them how to locate resources<\/p>\n *\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Explaining how to photocopy and print<\/p>\n *\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Providing roving, practical support and help<\/p>\n *\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Being an additional point of contact for basic enquiries<\/p>\n Who can apply ?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n Queen\u2019s students who will be re-enrolling for the 2014-15 academic year<\/p>\n +\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Available to attend several Library Ambassador training sessions in June and September.<\/p>\n +\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Willing to work for 6 hours per week for three weeks from 22 September till 10 October 2014.<\/p>\n \u00a0How to apply \u2026<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n There is no formal application form. Just send an A4 page as an email attachment to the library@qub.ac.uk<\/b><\/a> with \u201cLibrary Ambassador Volunteer<\/i><\/b>\u201d in the subject heading.<\/p>\n Include the following information: –<\/p>\n 1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>Your name, student number and Queen\u2019s email address.<\/p>\n 2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>What you are studying and at what level.<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>An outline of any relevant experience or aptitude.<\/p>\n 4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>The reasons why you want to work as a volunteer in the Library.<\/p>\n 5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>A summary of what you could contribute if selected.<\/p>\n The closing date for applications is Friday 4th<\/sup> April 2014<\/b>.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>Who will be selected ?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n On the basis of this application a small number of students will be invited for an informal chat a few weeks after the closing date.<\/p>\n It will be a chance for you to decide if you are interested in committing, and for us to decide if you would be suitable.<\/p>\n It will also be an opportunity for you to bring forward ideas for supporting other students in their use of library services and facilities.<\/p>\n Please Note !<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n This is voluntary work so it is unpaid.<\/p>\n You may be able to use this experience to contribute towards the Degree Plus Award (Category B).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" LIBRARY AMBASSADORS\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0 A CHANCE TO WORK IN THE McCLAY LIBRARY !
