{"id":406,"date":"2010-05-12T08:27:50","date_gmt":"2010-05-12T08:27:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/honni\/?p=406"},"modified":"2010-05-12T08:27:50","modified_gmt":"2010-05-12T08:27:50","slug":"outcome-of-the-point-of-care-trials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/healthcarelibrary\/2010\/05\/12\/outcome-of-the-point-of-care-trials\/","title":{"rendered":"Outcome of the Point of Care trials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Introduction<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the months of February and March 2010 trials to three Point of Care clinical tools were made available on the <strong>honni<\/strong> website.\u00a0 This was as a result of feedback from HSC personnel that this type of resource would be beneficial.\u00a0 The resources trialled were BMJ Best Practice, Dynamed and FirstConsult.\u00a0 The trial was publicised on the honni website, in all library branches and by direct contact with individuals. \u00a0An online feedback form was designed to enable direct feedback on the three resources allowing individuals to indicate their preference.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Feedback<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Only four feedback forms were received, with BMJ proving the preferred option with average ratings of good to excellent.\u00a0 FirstConsult was second getting average ratings of fair to very good.\u00a0\u00a0 Dynamed was the least favoured with average ratings of fair to good.<\/p>\n<p>Comments from feedback:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cBMJ evidence is pitched perfectly at the level of the clinically practising doctor and is a mine of information.\u00a0 It is also reassuringly up to date.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDifficulty: initially with dynamed\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cBMJ evidence was the best but not as easy to navigate as First Consult.\u00a0 Dynamed was useful but I liked it least of all three.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Statistics<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despite BMJ proving to be the preferred option according to the feedback, it was not the most used resource.\u00a0 During the trial both Dynamed and FirstConsult were used more often.<\/p>\n<table border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"123\" valign=\"top\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"123\" valign=\"top\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"177\" valign=\"top\"><strong>Total (Feb &amp;
