{"id":917,"date":"2021-03-04T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-04T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/happ\/?p=917"},"modified":"2021-03-03T15:01:34","modified_gmt":"2021-03-03T15:01:34","slug":"interfering-pets-meet-darcy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/happ\/2021\/03\/04\/interfering-pets-meet-darcy\/","title":{"rendered":"Interfering pets: Meet Darcy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Tom Marshall, PhD Candidate in Anthropology<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>If Ivan Pavlov was conducting his Pavlov\u2019s dog experiment today, he could use my doggie, Darcy, when virtual meetings begin.\u00a0When virtual meetings start with the participants initial, \u201chello, how are you?\u201d Darcy takes her cue to bark or growl.\u00a0It is her way of saying \u201chello\u201d or \u201cwho\u2019s here to play with me?\u201d\u00a0Darcy is then on a quest to search for these \u2018intruders\u2019 in her home.\u00a0My lap is then selfishly used as a human vantage point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see from the screenshot below, I have to struggle to be seen on screen by the meeting participants.\u00a0Maru\u0161ka, my supervisor, anticipates, even expects Darcy\u2019s bark at the start of our virtual supervision meetings.
