Set against the bleak yet lyrical backdrop of North-East England, Matthew Fearney\u2019s debut feature tears open the quiet ruptures in modern youth\u2019s existential condition. Fearney directs with striking confidence and edge; the constraints of a modest budget are transformed into a visual language that is both intimate and arresting. The film\u2019s emotional rhythm rises and falls with deliberate precision, pulling the viewer ever deeper into its quiet storm. The journey into adulthood is shown here not as a triumph, but as a quiet confrontation with compromise.
